Becky Makous

M.A. Counseling Psychology

Growing up in many countries around the world, I had the chance to practice the skill of creating new connections. My curiosity about what makes a healthy relationship deepened after witnessing my parents' divorce. My personal relationship journey has led me to explore my ethically non-monogamous (ENM) and queer identities, which has enriched my expertise in fostering sustainable and fulfilling relationships. I'm particularly passionate about relationship repair.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and collaborative engagement. I draw from evidence-based methodologies that include Gottman Method Couples Therapy, client-centered therapy, attachment theory, and body-based, mindfulness practices. I customize my holistic approach to meet the unique needs and objectives of each client or couple.

As a licensed counseling psychologist registered with the Netherlands Institute of Psychologists (NIP), I hold an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Webster University. My academic career included conducting original research into the factors that contribute to relationship and sexual satisfaction in both monogamous and ENM relationship practices. I really love this work!

Based in The Hague, Netherlands, I offer sex therapy and couples in English, both online and in-person. I am culturally competent and kink-aware, and specialize in serving the ethnically non-monogamous and LGBTQ+/ queer communities.

Becky is currently primarily offering couples counseling.
