Jan Fenten
I’m a German-born psychologist based in Leiden who works online worldwide and in person. After living in Germany, the USA, Brazil, and the Netherlands for the past decade, I understand the challenges of building a meaningful life far from home. My approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based: I integrate Schema Therapy, CBT, ACT, and mindfulness to translate deep insight into practical change.
In couples work, I use Schema Therapy for Couples to uncover the unmet needs beneath recurring conflicts and to help partners build new patterns of safety, flexibility, and intimacy. I welcome relationships of all constellations—monogamous, queer, and ethically non-monogamous (ENM)—while keeping our focus on the goals that matter most to you.
Focus areas: anxiety & stress, low self-esteem & self-criticism, grief & life transitions, expat & intercultural adjustment, relationship distress & communication, perfectionism & shame, LGBTQIA+ & ENM-affirming care
